    Anyone entering the ABNA?

Discussion in 'Marketing' started by EileenG, Feb 27, 2010.

I entered it in the YA category, and just heard today that I'm through to the next round.

At the risk of sounding ignorant... What's the ABNA?

Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. Entries are now closed, but they only accepted the first 5000 in YA and in general, so there was time pressure as well as the actual entry to cope with.

The first round is based on a description of the book and a 300 word pitch, and 1000 get through.

Second round is based on a 5000 word excerpt, and the third and final round is based on the entire novel.

Sounds interesting, might try my luck next year (if there's one, of course). Well, congratulations EileenG, and I wish you good luck! :D

I entered with my self published novel Sero (look it up on Amazon!) I'm not holding my breath, but who knows.

Nope. Apparently sociopolitical science fiction about God and overbearing nationalism is not something they were impressed by. Oh well.

I'm through so far. Keeping fingers, toes, and any other appendages crossed.

If I had known about this, as well as had a work to submit, I so would have. Haha.

I got lucky, someone mentioned it to me, and it gave me one hell of an incentive to do about a year's worth of editing and rewriting in a week.
