Hi everyone. I've been looking for a good writer's forum on and off for a while, and this place seems pretty good and active. Hopefully I can connect with some other poor souls who know the pain of scrapping a novel a third of the way through and then contemplating taking a hammer to your computer.
Welcome, @Blütrunstig! Let's hope we can save that poor computer together. Here's a link to the New Member Quick Start, it should get you going around here. Enjoy!
We had a thread about it the other day. Try finding some old writing and comparing it to the new stuff. Whichever one you cringe at less is your current project.
Writing can be difficult because... nobody knows exactly what everything is going to happen in their novel when they started. It takes a lot of going back to re-plot sometimes to set up for future ideas that pop up in your mind later. I started a story (not at Chapter 2), have no clue what is going to happen next in the story yet (not exactly with details anyway)... but I guess that's the fun of it... not even the author knows what is going to happen next, HAHA!
Welcome to the madhouse! Don't worry, nobody knows exactly what makes novels succeed. The readers be fickle, chaotic creatures, aye. And there's a good amount of circumstance involved. Just refine what you have as much as possible to achieve the best version of what you want and see what happens. The important bit is your creative vision being realized with dignity. Writing isn't where the money is anyway. I do indeed believe this place is "good and active." I love this forum. Have a beautiful day! Oscar out!
