    Upgrade Feedback

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by Daniel, Aug 18, 2013.

I recently completed the upgrade. Look for an announcement later tonight or tomorrow. It took longer than I thought, so so features are going to have to wait until I can work on them tomorrow (the blogs, for example, should come online tomorrow - that aspect I am unable to complete at this time).

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

If there are any major problems with the upgrade, features, and usability, please mention it in this thread to ensure I'm aware of it.

Also, if some people could post in this thread to confirm that you can post that'd be helpful.

The site looks great. The essence of the old one but with a cleaner, sharper feel.

I'm getting an authorization window pop-up though asking for a username and password. My account info doesn't work. The window keeps popping up when I cancel or refresh the page.

I'm having no problem posting... I already miss the 'latest post' sidebar though... Is that coming back?

Also... is it going to be possible to personalize profile pages still?

Well, I'm here ...after a bit of kerfuffle and having to create a new (gobbledegook) password, but it all seems tickety-boo. Not sure it's exactly an improvement, and I already miss the personalised aspects of the old one, but I'm sure it's workable. At least it's here, which is the main thing. Sounds like you were pulling tufts of hair at one point yesterday, Daniel? Glad it all worked out, eventually. Well done.

I see the 'edit' facility is gone from our old posts, although it's available for new ones. I suppose that's no big deal, though...

Yes I missed that too, at first, although the new feature of being able to see all the latest posts (not just the last five) is cool (and much better than the sidebar). It always takes a little time to get used to a new look. Good work Daniel.

And I love the new reply to quote thing (that you can click on the little arrow and be taken directly to the original post). Brilliant.

And the alert to tell you someone else has commented on a threat - very useful when you are in the middle of an arguementdiscussion. :)

I noticed a few hiccups on the mobile version. http://xenforo.com/community/resources/thecollectivemind-spoiler-bbcode.1889/or one when I t p into the textarea to write a reply my screen scrolls all the way up and I have to scroll down again manually to see what I am typing.

I also noticed the cursor jumping around a bit, though this may also have been me because at the time of writing this everything is going smoothly. I will keep testing the mobile variant on my phone and ipad. Perhaps its a good idea to create a thread were bugs/issues can be posted, this thread seems more focused on the opinions of people instead if everything works correctly.

I like the sleek, modern design it feels fast abd clean.

Edit: SPOILER tags don't work. I think this addon can fix that:

PASTING LINKS made the mess you see above. Thats what I meant with the cursor going places it shouldn't. Weird stuff... can someone else try from a smartphone device?

Of course it is going to take some time for everything to get back to how it use to... But excellent work Daniel. XenForo is now a much better software than vBulletin!

Any chance we can go back to the old way? It won't take that long to change back, right? ;)

It'll take some time to get used to it, but I can already tell there's some things that I like about it.

I can post too, good thing I suppose. :) The site looks nice and slick, very stylish.

There are a few quirks and things I've noticed from a mod's perspective. I'll PM you my findings Daniel, I wouldn't want to bore the regular users with it. ;)

    Hmmmm... Good morning!

Seeing the site on a computer now, it seems very simplistic. I do miss the 'Recent' boxes on the right though.

    Also, I found out
my scripts that I perfectly formatted using vBulletin are now giant mounds of mess. Ah well, cest la vie. I'll fix them at some point.

Gonna take awhile to get used to everything. Hey, where's my signature? Hmmmm... I'll go look for it. Ah, there it is.

I like almost everything. One thing I'd like though, Edit function used to stay 'alive' for up to 2 days, now it's just minutes. I often have to leave and come back in an hour or two, and I often spot SpaG errors in my replies, which I like to correct. Can we extend Edit time again, please?

Rather odd - was reading through the comments and when I got to the end - there I was, with the site just waiting for my reply! Nice, but a little unsettling.

One little nitpick (on behalf of those with older eyes) - can the light gray font (which seems to be the default for various things like the notes under thread titles, member info under the avatars, and other site info) be changed to something darker? I can read it, but it's not very easy.

ETA: It's also showing me as a "new member", although other info is the same. Didn't notice if the others were that way or not...
