1) Looking for a word that means Devil but sounds almost pleasant and innocuous. Like Lucifer but more obscure. 2) Other ways of phrasing Lord of all Evil, just so I can vary it in my book. Its actually more than one character, so I need female versions.
thats what I am hoping to do with the second bit. I have decided I use the word evil more often than I would like lol. Thank you the list will be useful. But for the first one I need something that is almost pretty. Old Nick is too earth like. Its to name the sea around the island. It is a major character in the book. It is the treachorous sea out of which all life escaped. Right now its Deil Sea, after the old Scots De'il (deel/deal) for devil.
thirdwind thats the idea lol It may work as the sea name. I don't want something everyone will know but that says devil or evil or treachorous.
On the innocuous side, how about, "My Ex"? Note: This is equably usable by both women and men. Of course this is not what you're looking for, but I had to post it. For if I didn't, I would no doubt kick myself for missing the opportunity later.

Man, and who ever said you had to call it all evil all the time. Maybe tell some story in the perspective of these characters or their followers - who may instead of saying 'oh my, those people are evil' have a lot more positive things to say. (Plus, it's always nice to switch it up.)
I like Old Scratch. In any case, it's probably perfectly fine to make up a new one that corresponds to some of his infernal attributes.
I like Old Scratch as well lol I have used google but there are a lot of names from other cultures that won't come up. I know some of the Old Scots names don't come up even on the specific sites.
