    Othello- the movie

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by ILTBY, Sep 29, 2007.

I'm currently in the middle of my preliminary exams and will have to write a large essay on Othello in my second English paper. In the paper, we need to discuss white actors playing Othello in plays and movies, particularly in the Lawrence Olivier version; I haven't been able to find that version on DVD anywhere, so I've been scouring the Net for any case studies or any kind of input but haven't come up with much.

So, does anyone have any input they could give me? Anything on the contrast between white actors playing Othello, what difference it makes, white vs. black and things along those lines.

Anything at all would be appreciated :)

The Lawrence Fishburn one was fantastic.

I've seen mangas of a few Shakespeare plays. I've never read any of them though...

Is it a Manga version of Othello? That sounds pretty cool.

I've only read Othello...I enjoyed it and I don't usually like Shakespeare. I hated the Romeo and Juliet movie, though. I didn't enjoy Midsummer Night's Dream, either.
