    Julia Collins & Jeopardy History

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by xanadu, May 28, 2014.

With her 17th consecutive win today, current Jeopardy champion Julia Collins is only three wins away from usurping the second longest winning streak in Jeopardy history (currently held by Dave Madden with 19 wins). She already secured the third longest streak with her 12th win, and she's currently the third highest scorer (not counting Brad Rutter, who won his millions over various tournaments) and the highest scoring female contestant.

And she routinely goes into Final Jeopardy with an unbeatable lead.

As someone who watches the show regularly but didn't start until a few years after Ken Jennings had his run, it's been extremely entertaining to get to watch Jeopardy history as it's happening. Earlier this year there was another contestant, Arthur Chu, who had an 11 game streak--he's now number 4 behind Julia, Dave, and Ken. So it's been a pretty exciting year so far for fans.

Here's the most recent article I could find--though the article itself only mentions it in passing, it is interesting that Arthur Chu's streak got a good deal more publicity, though that could have had to do with his admittedly irritating play strategy:

And here's a link to the current Jeopardy records:

Any other Jeopardy enthusiasts out there?

Last night, Julia Collins blew away the other two contestants on Jeopardy!

It must have been sort of embarrassing for them.

I'll be watching Jeopardy! tonight yet again in hopes that Julia wins once again, as the more she wins the more exciting it gets.

She did it. With 20 wins, she's now in second place behind Ken Jennings for longest streak in Jeopardy history. Now she just needs 55 more wins to dethrone the king.

Considering how good Collins is, I think the idea that she could beat Ken Jennings old record is a realistic idea.
