    Just wondering

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by WhispWillow, Oct 1, 2006.

I thought it would be interesting to know the ratio of girls and boys who write. Do more girls write than boys or is it the other way?

    I'm a guy.

    I think it's a pretty even ratio.

    Girl.

I would agree that the ratio is pretty even.

Yes, the male/female population ratio has stabilized. Women used to lead men by a smidgen, but now the ratio stands at a nearly perfect 101 (according to UN reports).

Personally, I've known more women who write than men. Some men associate writing with "soul searching", "finding your feminine side", etc., and so get scared off early on. Many men I've known find reading boring, so they have no motivation to write. I have yet to meet a women that said "I've never read a book in my life" but I've met at least a dozen men who have said that.

And that's the news from my microcosm.

I am female, and I write. Not as much as I used to; I don't have the patience or the time presently.

Personally, I know more guys who write. But that may just be because I don't really hang out with many chicks.

I definently think that in places like highschool, its the girls that write more. In the adult world, I wouldnt know.
