I found the ending to be a bit of a letdown b/c
the same theme "all that has happened will happen again" was in the 'dark tower' series by King amongst other movies/tv shows and books...

I second this, except, with me not being a mod an' all, I'll just have to appear on your doorstep with a crowbar and an evil smile. ;)

Me too!

I was disappointed in the explanations for some of the mysteries, but I think it was because I was expecting too much! Ah well. Everything else was incredible.

You will have to do it on DVD I'm afraid. Good news is that the series was done amazingly. Start with the mini-movie (pilot) and then dive into season 1. It's very different than the origional series (much darker) and waaaay less hokey than you would expect of a space drama on the scifi channel.

Ok... my mind has been sufficiantly blown.
THAT WAS EPIC!

By the way, did anyone notice:
The Ronald D. Moore cameo at the end?
And who else loved the line:
"It's all part of god's plan." "You know he doesn't like that name." Virtual Six and Baltar are the Shiz!

Ok, fanboy drivel over.

IT'S GONE! :( HOW COULD IT BE POSSIBLE? :(

I've watched it... and I'm breathless from it. Ending felt a bit contrived though.

That said, it hasn't stopped me pre-ordering the DVDs from Amazon. Roll on 1st June!

Hold on... You guessed THAT?!

I would never have guessed an ending like that in a million years! The entire show pulled the wool over my eyes! EPIC!

No idea why I put that in spoiler tags to be honest...

I very much liked the way the story wrapped up. I like the fact that it actually wrapped up, unlike the original which had the fleet come to a modern day (late 70's, early 80's) Earth. Viper pilots becoming disco-fied in the original just cheesed the ending of the series. I think the same would have happened if all of a sudden Starbuck and Apollo were debating whether they should get Thai or Cantonese for takeout while they hunted the racks at the local Blockbuster for a Blueray copy of Wall-E.

"Excuse me, sir. Will Blueray play on Caprican disc players?" <--- NO!!

The storyline for the new BSG became high space opera. It needed an ended that was somewhat mythic in its proportions and dynamic. Just MHO.

I loved the ending too! :D I love how pretty much the entire series pulls the wool over your eyes.
I mean, you assume for the most part that it's set in the future, especially with the whole Earth flashbacks. But then, you find out it's 150,000 years in the past? EPIC!

If you have not seen the ending and yet clicked on the spoiler anyway, not my fault.

Exactly. The show was very mythic, not only in its use of mythology as touchpoints to link the twelve colonies with the history of Earth, but in the basic storyline itself. The characters were much larger than life, archetypal. I'm glad they remained faithful to this ideology.
