    Kravorkian?

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Kravorkian, Sep 18, 2007.

    Hey everyone!

I've already made a few posts and threw up a short story, but figured I'd better formally introduce myself in the proper place.

    What to say...

I'm 29, married for 6 years (with her for 13) and have two kids (the three of them my entire world). I've enjoyed writing since I was young, starting back in fourth grade when I decided I wanted to re-write a movie I had watched. (Odd, huh?)

My favorite author is Dean Koontz, though I've been thoroughly enjoying Robert McCammon and Cormac McCarthy. (The Road is an AMAZING book.)

I live in Maine. I always get asked "Do you live near Stephen King!?" In my intro's nowadays, I answer the question before I'm asked. Yes, I live about 15 minutes from Mr. King. My wife went to school with his son.

Family, football, writing, gaming and auto restoration/customization are my hobbies. I've been on the writing forum scene for years, accumulating around 10,000 posts. I've also tinkered with my own site, forums and all. It's all just too much work, so I come to places like this. :)

And that's good for now, I suppose. haha

    Nice to be here.

    Hello there
Normally I'd say have a look around and feel free to speak up, but since you've already done that, I'll just say hello again.
    Hello again.

Hello Kravorkian, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners.

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room on this site, therefore, is a true workshop, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!

Thanks Torana. :) Maybe if I hang around and create a second family here, I can try to get a King autograph for you. haha

I'm testing the waters for now, as I do with all forums I visit. (Hence the reason I've yet to give an in-depth review. I hate to give, and not get...so I wait to see how it is.)

    Everything looks good so far!
