Hey! I'm a young writer. I love to write and I love to day dream.

Nothing gets me more excited than when I write a line that I think is absolutely wonderful. Yes, you heard that right, nothing.

I few years back just before the e-book boom I wanted to persue my writing as more a side hobby. I looked into all sorts of books on self publishing and nothing was very helpful back then. It was all, "Don't bother you won't sell much." Regardless, it's what I wanted to do. At the time I was working and going to school full-time for nursing so I didn't have the time to write. I specifically choose the nursing profession so I could work in a hospital doing a 7/10 shift (Work 10 hours per day for 7 days then have the next 7 days off) and could write on my weeks off.

After a few job changes and a few major changes I've decided to look back at writing.

This summer I set out on a reading binge to help me prepare. I will spare you the list but in the last three months I've read 11 books on writing, my favorite being The Writer's Journey, Mythic Structure for Writers by Christopher Vogler and 7 various works of fiction.

I also joined a writers group this summer at my local tech college. We had about 10-12 people in class and we would all read and critique each others stories and it was one of the most fun class experiences I've ever had. So much so that I am taking the class twice this fall.

Really look forward to joining this community. I've read the rules and I personally think they are excellent! I joined another forum that had more relaxed rules and I was really disheartened by some of the work that was getting posted because it seemed very sloppy like people put it together in five minutes. I look forward to reading and critiqueing others work and eventually having people do the same with my own!

Im trying to figure out how to post, I have already had 20 posts critiquing others work and I would like someone to read my work. So if anyone has an Idea on how I post my story please reply.

    Welcome to Writing Forums, fwc577!

I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing.

This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work.

However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirments. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing.

Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills.

If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself, Cogito, Lemex and Dante Dases) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner. I would recommend you have a look over the rules so that you know what to expect, and what is expected. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy your time here.

Yeah, not sure why someone choose my introduction post to ask that question lol.

I saw that in the rules and it was the #1 thing that attracted me to the site. I've been at another forum and making myself useful over there for a lot of people and when i posted my first chapter for them I got 11 views and not a single reply.

I have a feeling it's because people see pieces of work that are a little longer they don't want to critique in return :\
