This line just gets me: "Sometimes when it's super cold out and it's rainin and stuff, i like to order chinese food and when it comes i dont tip the guy, i just take the food in, kick him in the chest. when he lands on the floor i just lock him out, i don't pay for the food or pay for the tip. i make him regret stuff like his life and his job and s*** like that so...." --Amir, "CollegeHumor"
Amir is a wise man. "I'm sneezing blood and am coughing all night. I'm just too tired to get health insurance today. Maybe tommorrow." I think some of the best lines come from songs. He's an angry dude, but he has a point, you have to admit. And as far as emotional lines that get me, it's another song. Always gives me a little hope at the end of the day.
I don't know why I like this line so much, but it's my favorite line from any movie. Gives me goosebumps every time. It's from the movie Secretary with James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhaal. At this point in the movie, Mr. Grey (Spader) has broken off an illicit dom/sub office relationship with Lee (Gyllenhaal). She shows up at his office in a wedding dress to say that she loves him. E. Edward Grey: Look, we can't do this 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Lee: Why not?
"'Cause I'm just a girl I'd rather not be 'Cause they won't let me drive Late at night I'm just a girl, Guess I'm some kind of freak 'Cause they all sit and stare With their eyes" -- Just a Girl by No Doubt.
"The longer I lay there in the clear hot water the purer I felt, and when I stepped out at last and wrapped myself in one of the big, soft, white, hotel bath towels I felt pure and sweet as a new baby." -- Sylvia Plath, The Bell jar.
Possibly my favourite Star Trek quote. "So... I lied. I cheated. I bribed men to cover the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But the most damning thing of all... I think I can live with it. And if I had to do it all over again, I would. Garak was right about one thing, a guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the Alpha Quadrant. So I will learn to live with it. Because I can live with it. I can live with it... Computer, erase that entire personal log." - Capt. Benjamin Sisko, In the Pale Moonlight.
Kilgore, squatting on the beach not far from the burning treelines and the devastated village, muses on the smell of napalm. Then, after a moment of silence: "Someday this war is gonna end." Apocalypse Now
"Don't want to believe in this ending Let the camera's roll on keep pretending Tomorrow's all wrong If you walk away Just stay So lie to me and tell me that its gonna be ok Lie to me and tell me that we'll make it through the day I don't mind if you wait before you tear me apart So look me in the eye and lie, lie, lie" From the song Lie by David Cook through really the whole song is what gets me I suppose it's something about the pure desperation and beauty of the lines that gets me
I do love him Actually Permanent is my favorite song of all time so those lyrics really get me, that and Makeover (pre-idol song, really really good) I jsut happened to be Listening to Lie right then lol though honestly i could put almost any lyrics from any of his songs in here
I know I definitely could, too. He's so talented, and I love all the lyrics. Kiss on the Neck is my favorite, I'd say.
"Because," he said, "I sometimes have a queer feeling with regard to you--especially when you are near to me, as now: it is as if I have a string somewhere under my left ribs, tightly and inextricably knotted to a similar string situated in the corresponding quarter of your little frame. And if that boisterous Channel, and two hundred miles or so of land, come broad between us, I am afraid that cord of communion will be snapped; and then I've a nervous notion I should take to bleeding inwardly. As for you, - you'd forget me." Mr. Rochester, in Jane Eyre For some reason these lines always make me go 'Oooooh...'
*gasps* Why didn't I think to say that? Oh gosh, I love everything about that book it's so hard to pick just a few lines.
Copy and paste the entire book of Wuthering Heights, too. And for good measure throw in 2 of my favorites--American Pastoral and All the King's Men.
"This is amazing. You can't focus. Right? Jumping every time your phone rings. Checking your e-mail a hindred times a day. Wishing you could write songs. No. Feeling the need to bring up her name in random conversations. It's always the same, and it had happened to you my friend." *pause* "Sh--" That is probably my favorite movie quote ever, from one of my favorite movies, He's Just Not That Into You "When i said i didn't know much about love...well that wasn't true. The truth is I know alot about love, I've seen it, centuries and centuries of it. It was the only thing that made watching your world bearable, all the hate, the lies, the pain. It made me want to turn away and never look down again. But to see that way that mankind loves; you could search the furthest reaches of the universe and never find anything more beautiful. So yes, i know that love is unconditional. But I also know it can be unexpected, uncontrollable, unbearable, and, well, strangely easy to mistake for loathing. And what I'm, what I'm trying to say is...I think I love you." and it continues but I probabaly shouldn't write the rest lol That quote alwyas makes me all happy and excited, plus the music from that scene is great. it's from my favorite movie of all time, Stardust.
from season 2 of Mad Men There are so many lines from Mad Men that are loaded with little gems of wisdom, but they're always knotted up with melancholy; wisdom coming forth from tragedy.
"You could spend your whole life erasing them, but you'll be able to get rid of even half the '**** you' signs in the world." J.D. Salinger: the Catcher in the Rye
