    Comments Threads

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by Heimdall, Mar 14, 2008.

Here's my idea: For novels/poetry, whatever, there could be a subforum that would be for the story itself, while comments threads in the main section of the forum would be where forumers would discuss the ideas.

    I don't really follow?

Are you suggesting having critiques in seperate threads to the pieces themselves? I don't understand how that would be helpful?

I take it that you've saying that there could be two sections to a form of writing; where we have a Review Room and a Writing Issues separate, you propose that they should be combined. And that should be in such a way that each form of writing e.g. short story should be divided into two categories of reviewing: a sub-forum where one would post up a piece, and receive critique on it, and another sub-forum where ideas and issues can be discussed.

I would not consider that very helpful, because issues such as SPAG, plot creation, publishing, etc aren't very different in the different forms of writings and need not be categorized.

I know what you mean and I have seen it at various other forums. It does look nice cause the story's sections are uninturrpted by commented. Its good for reading but I prefer the way we have it set up here. It can get a little cluttered if you put multiple sections in the same thread but its a much more effective way of critiquing.

The main purpose of the Review Room forums is review, not exhibition. Therefore, keeping the comments with the work being discussed is the best choice. The reviews are not an afterthought to the writings, they are a tool whereby the author can improve his or her work.
