    Love To Write

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by MistyGirl, Oct 2, 2012.

    Hello There!

I am new to the forum, a novice writer and am happy to be a member now. I live near Galveston along the Gulf Coast of the great state of Texas. I was thrilled to find a writers forum I can learn from. I believe I have talent, not only from what I think; but because of what my sister told me about 4 years ago. I wrote an email to her with a lot of expression and emotion and to my surprise she told me I wrote beautifully. My jaw dropped, I could not believe it. She, being an English Major and writer herself, must have noticed something about me that I did not even know myself. I simply tried to write my feelings down so that the she could feel it and sure 'nuff, she did. :)

To make a long story short, after my sister praised my writing efforts, I started a journey writing romantic stories to my (then) husband and could see the inner writer coming out. Because of that, I started a blog last January, 2012. I've had great input about my blog and writing abilities, so I know I do not stink...lol. I am looking for a job and have become interested in trying to find a way to make money from home on my computer and the writing idea popped in my head. I have been researching starting my own website selling ebooks and/or becoming a member of a popular ebook publisher and selling my ebooks there. It's a lucrative business and it might be something I could really settle into and earn a fair income.

So, with all of that said, it's great to be here and any advice I can get, please feel free to tell me what you think. I realize I am very green, so be honest, I will not crumple into a pile of insecure misery, I promise. Thank you so much and have a fantastic week!

    God Bless!

Hi Mistygirl, welcome to the forum! That's so great that you are looking into ebooks. I hope to figure out how to do one someday for a photography/craft book. :)

And, how sweet of your sister to say that to you! My Aunt is an English Major too and she once gave me a compliment about my vocabulary and I was way taken aback as well. It's just something I do that I don't even think about, if you know what I mean. But, it did give a huge boost of confidence!

I hope you enjoy yourself here, see you around!

    Welcome to Writing Forums, MistyGirl!

I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing.

This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work.

However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirments. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing.

Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills.

If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself, Cogito, Lemex and Dante Dases) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner. I would recommend you have a look over the rules so that you know what to expect, and what is expected. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy your time here.

    Hi JessWrite....

The ebook came to my mind just yesterday, so everything is in the baby stage, actually no stage....lol. I'm still "thinking" about it. There are alot of resources out there on the Internet about how to start an online ebook

Thanks for the hello and welcome. I hope to see you around, too.
    Have a great week!!

    Hello Banzai!

Thank you so much for all the valuable information. I appreciate the time you spent laying all of it out for me.

And I do want to understand what not to do here. I certainly don't want to get into trouble.
BTW...I did belong to a Harley biker forum for a few years and know how to behave...lol....but there are some things here that are different that I need to fully understand.

It was a pleasure reading your welcome post...thanks again for all your advice and help. Have a wonderful week!
