Any bloggers?

Hi guys.

Just a quickie ...

I've started a blog on my website. The thing is, I have no real idea of what a blog actually is or it's purpose, I really am just winging it.

So, if any of you are bloggers and you have any little snippets of advice, please let me know what they are!

In the context of being an author, a blog is a vehicle to gain recognition for yourself and your work. Doesn't mean that you have to blog about writing (or just writing). Could be any subject matter, but the idea is that what you write is interesting enough that over time you build up a decent-sized following, and when you publish you work you have a platform to promote it and a group of people who are already interested in what you write.

 

I'd suggest writing about a specific interest or hobby. It'll keep you keep engaged, you'll probably have some prior knowledge about it, and it's also a nice way to meet other like-minded bloggers.

(I have poetry blog for fun and enjoy the interaction.)

 

If I also use it to voice my own opinions, would that be good or bad?

 

Just to add, I posts my first proper blog post (about a book, not my book) a few days ago and have so far received positive comments!

I hope I can keep it up ...
