Hey, I've been nosing around this forum for a few days now and thought that an introduction was in order. My name is Anthony and I'm a 26 year old whose been exploiting - err - exploring my creative side for some time now. Normally, I dabble on the musical and emotional spectrums so technical writting is probably one of my weakest avenues. Which is why i've recently joined. I enjoy writing since it forces me to think about the true intent of my words. And as such, would like to become more proficient at it. I've not penned much so far. And that which I have I've only shown to my wife - whose accolades seem ironically similar to my mother and her abused refrigerator magnets. So opening up my brain/heart to the forum feels like a moderately large step for me. But I'll do it none-the-less since almost all criticism can be used as a developmental tool. Everything helps, -Xyphyx P.S. Cogito - I've explored some of the sight and have plans to traverse it more as time permits. And I can completely understand why we're required to review before posting personal work. This said as a preemptive response to your greeting
Hello Anthony, Welcome to the Writing Forums. (But I'll go ahead and post it anyway ) If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
