Bird flu outbreak found in Oxfordshire

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Raven, Jun 3, 2008.

An outbreak of bird flu has been confirmed at a poultry farm in southern England although tests indicate it is not the virulent H5N1 strain, the farm ministry said on Tuesday.

The ministry said in a statement chicken on a farm in Oxfordshire had an H7 strain of bird flu, adding further tests were need to determined whether the virus was highly pathogenic.

All birds on the farm had been slaughtered as a precautionary measure.

The strain involved in the outbreak is not the deadly H5N1 virus, which has killed more than 230 people since 2003 and resulted in the deaths of millions of birds.

Oh, I shouldn't worry. We'll all be dying of cancer, or terrorism, again by the weekend.

That too... I heard that so many imigrants are coming into the bottom half of the UK it;s weighing it down so much that the countries going to tip and and Scotland will break off like in Titannic... And the Leonardo Di Caprio freezes... or something like that... But then gets melted by carbon emmissions... so everyone's happy. Apart from Scotland.

If I were a normal person I would just give up. Instead maybe I'll write a story about it. On a side note, if there's bird flu, does that mean other animals have flu as well? Elephant flu? What about fish herpes, or giraffe rickets?

Everone get you best Julie Andrews voice and sing along...

    The hills are alive
    with the sound of H5N1.
    Where viruses are sprung
    every thousand years!

Maybe my new book can put this in perspective. It's called "Exercise, Eat Well, Do Everything Right - And Drop Dead Anyway".

    The hills fill my heart,
With a lethal does of diareha
    My heart wants to die
    Every beat it screams

    My heart wants to die
Like the H5N1 of the birds
That die from the flu to the trees

Yeah- he'll throw diseased cats at you. Cats that are suffering from depression. Cats that need counselling. Try ignoring a load of depressed cats who are going off the rails, just to collect a million dollars. I couldn't.

I have been researching the Avian Flu for over five years. Since it first started to really spread through Asia. I have also done a lot of research on the 1918 Spanish Flu.

I am now using my research in my attempt at a novel.

Quite frankly, I think the flu has the best chance to do the most damage of any bug/disease out there.

If you have any questions about the developments over the past few years just ask.

You should just start using your cell phone more...I've heard they cause cancerous brain tumors. That should do the job in no time ;)
