Authors -- How did you make your website?

Discussion in 'Marketing' started by jamesE, Nov 23, 2011.

    who did you use?
What's the least expensive way to do it?
Do you know of any services that do a good job for a low price (that you can vouch for)?

    thanks

    Wordpress. Simple, easy and free.

If and when I start to make serious progress with publishing, I'll probably see about something more complicated, but for now I'm happy with my simple blog site.

I used wordpress too. Just because I'm too lazy to actually make a propper website.
If you pay someone to make a website for you (and they're a professional) you'll be paying through the nose.
It's a good idea to get some cluey teenager who likes you to do it for free.

I did my own, but I'd learned a form of html many, many years ago, so it only took some 'refreshing' to get into it again (now I just have to figure out CSS :p). I just don't work well with 'packaged sites', no matter how versatile they claim to be. They never seem able to do what I want to do. :(

Weebly is free and easy, it has all of the sections that you need until you are ready to pull the trigger on a more complex site.....

I have my blog through blogger, which is free. I'm getting ready to launch a website in conjunction with the release of an ebook. I bought a couple of domain names and have ipage.com hosting for $2.95 a month. (that was a special, it's $3.50 now). I don't have much in the way of design skills, but am using weebly through ipage and the site is shaping up pretty well. You also get email through the domain, some advertising credit with facebook and some other sites. So far, I'm happy with it. I'm going to launch the site in about two weeks so we'll see how it goes then.
