There are varying theories in my family (since i always clearly ate... a lot). bro says i have a hollow leg, dad says i have a tape worm, and sis says i have a worm hole to another dimension in my stomach... i think sis is right.

People are greedy ****s 365.25 days a year. Christmas is just another excuse for it.

Of course, for those of us who aren't wankers 24/7, then we can as Ashleigh suggested take it as a well-earned day off, and be as selfish as we like :)

    I don't think so.
But maybe because I was raised on trash to a farm I have different views from people.
I remember one Christmas, when we were out in the cold sort of watching from the windows this family celebrating Christmas.
They shoved food in their faces like they were not going to eat the next day, when you watched something like that you just.
How could you behave like that?
When there is someone who probably won't be able to live the next day, who probably doesn't have enough food for the next day?
How could you just take life for granted for one day?
We shouldn't deserve to forget people on one day.
But as said maybe because I lived so young in trash I have very emotional reactions to greed.

    Oh, I don't know....

I think it's just a little cooler-than-thou to snub one's nose at the holidays. I wish I had more time to enjoy the season, but I have to work for most of it. I don't have one of those lucky jobs that get a week or two off at the holidays.

This past weekend we had the traditional dinner here at the apartment where the family (William's family) gets together and we make the Three Kings Day list of gifts. It's kind of like registering for a wedding. The family is big and they have made this system in order to make gift-giving an easier endeavor. Gifts are never large or expensive given the size of the family and I like the feeling and mood that everyone has. Everyone chooses things they need, nothing exorbitant.

    Lol.

You will always think what I'm trying to say is a part of all this 'good will' stuff circulated through Christmas because you simply don't understand what poverty feels like but you know, that's okay, alot of people never will, so why would you care right?

^ I can do so because my family worked very hard to get where they are.
We aren't rich at all, and we dont take life for granted.
I was happy this year to have absolutely nothing, I just wanted my grandad to be well again and be home.
And yet here I am just trying to lighten the mood and what do i get?
A load of bullcrap about how i'm selfish and dont give to the poor.
You have hard times? guess what, so do I.
Deal with it - the rest of us do.

and by the way guys - why dont you sell your computer and give your internet bill money to the poor this year? hmm? Nah. didn't think so.

I love how you assume I dont care.

I dont care for you or your attitude, no.

Otherwise why dont you let me decide, hmm?

I never said you were rich
I never said my problems were bigger than yours
I never said you were selfish and you dont give to the poor
I never said you didnt have hard times

All these interpretations you've come up with yourself, because you don't get what I'm trying to say

I dont really care what you're trying to say, either.

At the end of the day you're just pissed because you've had to go without at some point and arent happy with it.
That just reveals that you're as greedy and selfish as everyone else, which makes your opinion totally biased.

I've been watching this thread with fascination because I've always wondered why so many people commit suicide this time of year. I guess my views are from someone who, while coming from a poor family, always at least had the essentials.

I thought this would be a thread where everyone wished each other a happy holiday and move on with their lives, but this is turning into a thread that, in all probability, will be closed.

That said, I'm going to eat turkey tomorrow until I slip into a coma; then Thursday, rinse and repeat. :p

Happy Holidays guys! Lets be friends y'all. :)

Personally, I don't like your attitude.
It isn't about not given to the poor, its thinking about what you are doing.
Do you really need all that food? If you are full you are full.
Do you really need to eat everything because you earned it? No
Do you really need a thousand presents because you earned it? No
Do you really need to be selfish and greedy for one day because you earned it? No
Just because you earn it doesn't mean you always a get a reward.
It doesn't give you the right to behave in a selfish, greedy way.
Sometimes you get presents when you didn't earn it.
Sometimes you get something when you didn't earn it.

I hope it does get closed!

It's full of bratty disgruntled people eager to ruin everyone else's mood just because their's wont be jolly this christmas.

    *giggles*

Of course it's bias, my beliefs are emotionally motivated, as are yours

    also, I'm not pissed

I just appreciate the help that was given to me during the times that my family went through Hell and now that my family is coming out of Hell, and things are getting better, it makes me motivated to help others they way they have helped me, even if it's in it's most simple, boardline-lost-cause, forms

Enough. This thread is turning into a fight. Truth be told, it was headed that way from the start. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the festive season in their own way, and arguing about it will just spoil it for everyone. Some people view other peoples ways as greedy or whatever, but in all truthfulness, it's not really your place to pass judgement on other people without being fully informed as to their situation. So I'm closing this thread before I end up having to ban anyone.
