How does one talk a bloodthirsty psycho into stopping what he/she's doing?

I've outlined most of the story I'm working on now, and I've reached the end of the story. I wanted the MC to be stopped through non-violence (even though at this point she's lost her sanity and is eating people left and right). I was wondering how exactly someone would talk her out of her insanity...

The only reason why I see that the person who stops the MC through talking is that violence (which everyone else tried) doesn't work since the MC is just about as strong as a deity.

Any information needed to help with ideas on this will be given

 

If your killer is psychotic, he won't stop until killed or contained.

 

Assuming it is possible, the MC would have to appeal to the psychotic on the basic of their delusions.

 

@Cogito: Probably the person that's talking some sense into the killer is serving as a distraction for the people who are trying to seal the killer away (by chucking her into another dimension).

@Rumpole: So if the psycho's a man-eating deity who wants to rule over the world to shape it to how she sees it fit, the person would have to appeal to that?

 

Yup. Maybe something like the people aren't worthy to be digested and become part of her divine nature.

 

I apparently hadn't thought of that until now. *thinking* I wonder if that person would also offer him/herself up.

Very true. I'm thinking that the person would also try to get her away from the rest of the humans by transporting her off to another place (probably the last thing he/she does before he/she dies).

I am wondering whether the person that sacrifices him/herself should be introduced early to the readers for any sort of connection because the psycho is the MC (she wasn't always like that though, something made her lose her sanity permanently).

 

Unfortunately only you can make that decision as no one else knows the story like you do.

 

True. And thank you, the brainstorming is almost done so I can actually write tidbits.

 

Psychopaths cannot be stopped or rehabilitated.

How about tricking them into it. Make them think that stopping is actually of benefit to them.
