Been gone for a week, just got back, here is my

The Give Me A Name Thread is just one of a set of Zombie Threads that just keep coming back no matter what you throw at them. There are others.

The Semicolon Thread.

The Double Space Thread.

The How Do I Show Internal Dialogue Thread

The How Do I Show Telepathic Communications Thread (I've been guilty of this one) :redface:

And a dozen or so other threads like this which, just as Cogito has already mentioned have everything to do with members who refuse to search the forum, and not so much to do with the popularity of the subject. The questions will still get posted. Putting them all in one place doesn't make them go away. Dirt swept under the rug is still dirt.

 

very true Wrey, but it would make things a lot tidier. It is just a thread. Would it hurt to give it a try?

 

The suggestion was for a sub-forum, not for "just a thread". I don't think that there's any problem with reasonable questions about names being asked in the research forum, and I don't think there would be enough traffic to justify a whole sub-forum. That's what threads are for.

 

agreed... i see no justification for another subforum...

 

The subforum would be justified by the fact that every new person who wants us to make a name for their character starts their own thread. They wouldn't stay in one thread; they might stay in one subforum that is dedicated to their issue.

 

It wouldn't happen. They would still post in General Writing and Character Creation. And a new forum or subform adds to the size of the forum home page, so we don't add forums that serve no useful purpose.
