    Hi all...

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by jamescarroll_uk, Jan 7, 2008.

...I'm jim. I'm quite new to this writing business, expcept the odd english story back in high school. ;)

Lately I've been having the urge to write an adult crime noir esque narrative, kind of inspired by the graphic novels that i've been reading of late. I've just been finding it a little hard to get off the ground. So, I thought id try and get involved with like minded people, in a place where i can share, discuss and develop some ideas! so, here i am!

I've already posted a few times, but thought id write a more formal "hello" to you all :)

    hope your all well! :p

Hello Jim, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well!

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!

    Hello Jim,

I'd go with those urges and get writing. If you have any spare writing urges then please feel free to send them to me as mine are all worn out for now.

Take care and see you around the site.

Welcome to the site! It is hard to start writing for sure. The best thing to do is just to start doing it. Then, you will probably hate what you wrote and toss it aside, but pull an aspect out that you really liked and start writing about that instead!
