Need a name starting with N

Discussion in 'Character Development' started by Lea`Brooks, Jun 25, 2015.

    Yo!

I'm starting up a new story, and I need a girl's name starting with N that young kids would make fun of. It's going to be my MCs name, and she's made fun of so much as a child that she starts going by her initials.

Preferably, it would still be a pretty name because one character will be calling her by it later. Her sister's name is Tess (aka Teresa) so I'd also prefer it goes along with that name. Meaning, I don't believe a parent would name one daughter Teresa and the other Nikochibra or something else crazy. :p

I've thought of boy names (Neil, Nathan) and somewhat strange names (November, Noel), but none of them seem like names that a kid would really make fun of. My mom's last name was Brice growing up and she said students used to tease her by saying "Laura Brice has lice." Poor thing. lol So that's kind of what I'm looking for.

    Any ideas? :)

    Naasica.

I had a friend Teresa with and her bestie was Naasica, Treezie and Seekie. Could be sister names too.

Oh and how could I forget Nellie (the elephant who packed her trunk and said goodbye to the jungle)

I had a great aunt called Nellie who tried not to go by the name Nellie. We called her Auntie Bowley which was her surname.

I think Nada is pretty good as it means nothing in Spanish.

Nyota? Means 'star' in Swahili and I think it sounds pretty. Plus, Star Trek reference :D

Maybe Narn or Narni? I'm pretty sure those aren't names but you could think of some reason for her parents to name her that and then you could say the kids would say she grew up in a barn. Hair looked like yarn . . .

:superlaugh:These are great! I'm particularly drawn toward Nina. lol I immediately pictured kids on a playground chasing her, chanting "Neee-nah, Neeeee-naahh! Neeeen-naahh's a weee-naahh."

Oh jeez.. It hurts from laughing. lol I may end up going with that one, but I still look forward to seeing other suggestions!

I have a great niece called Nevaeh (pronounce it how you like). It's Heaven backwards.

Might fit you bill regarding the spitefulness of kids.

Whoah, I have a baby cousin called Navaeh! They kept saying it was heaven backwards, until I pointed out they spelled heaven wrong... God. I love my family.

Nora. Rhymes with Dora. Kind of sounds like whore-a. You're a lot of bored-a. I don't know.

I used to call my best friend Natalie's drunk alter ego, "Nast-i-ly"

    There's also
    Fat-alie
    Brat-alie
    Rat-alie

Natalie carries with it a lot of options.

If she's called Natalie, people might shorten her name to Nat, and then make nicknames from that... Nacho, Nattie the Fattie, Nat the Nut...
