    Other similee/words for a Writer

Discussion in 'Character Development' started by Cacian, Feb 5, 2012.

    apart from author/novellist/narrator?

could an actor be similart to a writer?
    or better
a director and characters are actors?

    A writer direct a story
    and
    characters act out the ideas?

A writer is merely a vessel of thought and his hands are the wind in his sails.

there are other synonyms... just go to dictionary.com and check 'writer' in the thesaurus for the whole list...

there are some writer/actors... otherwise, i don't see how, since actors only recite what the writer writes...

while directors will often act out bits they want their actors to do differently, and many directors are also actors, the word 'director' does not really equal the word 'actor'... and characters can't be actors other than if they're written to be actors...

    there are many well-known writer/directors...

that makes no sense, since the characters are acted out by actors...

btw, 'simile' is pronounced 'similee' but has only one 'e'...

and you may have meant 'synonym' since a simile is something altogether different [simile: the sun was like a golden shield hanging in the sky]

Directing, acting, and writing are all completely different jobs. They're not similes.
Characters are fictional. Directors could be actors, if they wanted to be. Characters could be actors, if the writer wanted them to be.

*confused* ...What are you asking? lol.

I am asking for other metapohors/simile for the word 'writer'
meaning who do you compare a writer to?
For example I would compare a photographer to a painter.
    Both make/takes pictures.
One by hand and the other by camera.
With regards to writer, I compared it to a director.
On uses words/imagination/plots to write down a story
the other uses characters/actors to create a story (obviously with the help of camera men and scripts)

A painter and a photographer are completely different. It seems like you're looking for a way to discribe everything, and I would go with artist since, in a way, everything you are putting out there can me summed up as art.

I think some are looking into it too hard. Cacian was just asking for an artistic way of describing writers. Such as my signature. Although I do think she is more or less just using other WORDS to describe instead of expressing it through prose.
