    Hi everyone

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by midnightphantom, Apr 6, 2008.

I joined last night, but I decided to give my mind a break before i began posting a lot of threads. So yeah i'm new here. It looks like a great website. I've been told to tell you something about myself, well...i don't know where to start. You can find a little bit about me from my profile, or just check out some of my posts. I plan to major in creative writing in college at UW Madison, or UM Minneapolis (I belive I stated that on my profile too). I love to read, so if i started a list of my favorite books i'd be here forever. I'm very active in Forensics (speech club). I'm going to state in about a week in Madison. It gives me the oppertunity to write my own speeches. My current speech is about intollerance, a subject i'm very passionate about. Once you get to know me, you'll find out that i'm very passionate about a lot of things. I'm a very passionate person period. :D Um...so yeah. I don't usually write a lot for the "newbie threads." I'm just waiting for pizza to be done upstairs...which i think it is. So i'm looking forward to meeting some new people on here.

    midnightphantom

Hello Midnight Phantom, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

The "newbie threads" also give us the opportunity to say hello, and tell you a few helpful things about the site.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well!

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!

hello and welcome to the forum
I hope that you have a most wonderful time here with all of us and don't worry, you will at some point come face to face with the forum crazies, but they don't bite at all, so you are pretty safe I guess. If they do bite....hmmm....
have fun and see you around the boards anyways....
