    New girl on the block

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by JayelleLD, Feb 19, 2008.

and ready to see my name on the cover of a book......
I set up a "support group" of sorts last year consisting of friends and family to give me feedback on what I am working on.
I have a fantasy novel that has been sitting in my brain for oh about 20 + yrs and in the last yr I have done "excerpts" from it and in the last month have managed to complete a first draft for the first 5-6 chapters-- circumstances have exhausted me and it is now in a holding pattern but I intend to finish the first draft by May/June..........

I also have a children's story thats been in my brain (wrote it as a joke for friend) for some 10 yrs. (yeah PROCRASTINATOR that's me!)that I am putting the finishing touches on and another one that seems to have sprung forth as a completed project.

The children's stories are why I am here........I don't draw so its going to be text only anyone know how to package picture books to publishers??? (yup I procstinate but when I do get a bee in my bonnet I can be like a dog with a bone)

Look forward to meeting everyone and seeing what you all have to offer
    God Bless
    Jayelle

Morning Jayelle! There is a member here by the name of Mammamaia... she is always happy to provide assistance and advice. She definitely knows what she is doing! If you send her an email she might be able to answer the question about the picture book.

Looking forward to reading your work!

Hello Jayelle, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well!

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
