    Newb Status for sure

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by GoldenGhost, Jan 11, 2012.

I guess this is the place where we say what's up, hello, what's happenin

Obviously, I am also new to this website. I just found it when I was searching for workshops online. I have recently started writing again after almost five years of nothing, not even a journal for a long list of reasons. Some things in my life over the passed year have made it possible for the spark to become ablaze again, and life rejuvenated. Lately it's almost like a flood gate in my mind has opened and words have just been pouring out, and I have been doing my best job to exploit this new found inspiration going in hopes the practice and feel of getting back into a routine will help me through once it has run its course. (We all know inspiration is always limited and comes and goes.) I have always had a passion for literature and rhetoric. I am just looking to progress my skill and broaden my horizon regarding other styles and different perspectives on not only life and experience, but the prose behind the message as well. Anyways thanks for letting me join and give what little intellectual feedback I can offer to the people who want to listen, if any. :p

    whats good everyone?

    P.S.

I know this is a newb question but I have never really had to worry about it as much on a forum until this one considering in review, I need to site specific places or parts of someone's work I am commenting about. How do you create the quote bubble that separates what the previous persons post and or content of the post was so that you see what they say in the bubble and then I can freely comment underneath. (and do so multiple times if I were commenting on multiple parts of lets say, different lines of a poem?)

firstly welcome to the forum bro, always good to have another writer on board!

secondly, in regards to commenting on multiple parts of a post, choose to reply with quote, highlight the lines you want to quote and then select the text bubble to the right hand side of the quick reply box

(at least i think lol) all the best

It's the last icon on the right of Quick Reply but am not sure where it is in Go Advanced.

You can also use the [] tags. The opening tag is the word quote in square brackets and the closing one is forward-slash quote in square brackets.

Welcome, I'm still a rookie myself, but I've been here a bit so I may have graduated to scrubeenie.

    Welcome to Writing Forums, GoldenGhost!

I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing.

This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work.

However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirments. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing.

Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills.

If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself and Cogito) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner. I would recommend you have a look over the rules so that you know what to expect, and what is expected. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy your time here.
