    Greeting and Bienvenue!

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Chemistrii, Dec 29, 2012.

My name is Christopher Steene, and I am a 15 year old (Please don't judge me on my age, but my personality), and one of the things that life has given me is a gift of writing, a way of life that brings the essence of creativity in us all. We breathe it, We walk it, We talk it. I am also a Summer Camp Advisor in Northern Minnesota and also a team member in my school's Supermileage and Robotics teams, while being on my path to Eagle Scout as well as being involved in Drama, School Newspaper Writing, AV crew, and our school Youth Advisory Committee. One of my favorite topics or things to write is the Teenage World through a negative world point of view, because I believe that not all teenage lives were smooth sailing, but rather harsh and painful, and I do know people in fact who live miserable lives and have done harmful things, so I based my writings on them. I am also interested in becoming a better writer, for either required or creative writing. One of the main goals in my life is to become an author and a journalist, while also being in College to study for Psychology, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Physics in my dream college/university of Caltech. So I ask of you, the world of writers, journalists, or editors, to guide a young man on a journey to a dream in which he achieve through hard work and positive wisdom, Gracias.
    Sincerely,
    Christopher Steene

Hi Christopher! and welcome to the forums.

No-one should judge anyone for their age; 5, 15, 50 or 90 - no matter, we have either been there or are making our way there.

There are a lot of young members here on the forum/ so you will fit in (na bother).

    Welcome to Writing Forums, Christopher!

I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing.

This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work.

However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirements. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing.

Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills.

If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself, Cogito, Lemex and Dante Dases) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner. I would recommend you have a look over the rules so that you know what to expect, and what is expected. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy your time here.

Welcome. That was quite a formal greeting. We are very happy to have you here, and your writing above certainly makes you seem like not the typical 15 year old. I also have to mention that it is quite brave of you to post all that info about yourself. People like myself are paranoid of the internet and do not disclose even our names or location. So kudos to you for your non-paranoia. I look forward to seeing your work and getting helpful advice as well. :)
