not really sure about the word I should use...

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by sophia_esteed, Apr 8, 2009.

I'm writing a sci-fi novel in which there's a war going on - pretty much like star wars but without the whole mystic-religion / force-thingy.
I'm not really sure about the rank I should give to one of my characters: she's a nurse and she's just finished the naval school of medicine.
The question is: is she an officer? or a warrant officer?
Should I go with ensing or warrant officer-something?
Also, I'm writing in Italian, which is my mother language, so should I give her the warrant officer rank, I'm not sure how should I translate it in my language.
If anyone could give me a tip, I don't wanna write something wrong.

Thanks! I was unsure whether I should use 'ensign' or something else.
    I'll go with that then.
