    Obituaries R.I.P. Characters

Discussion in 'Character Development' started by sprirj, May 1, 2016.

pay your respects for the darlings you may have literarily killed. Excuse my pun excess.

Gunnar, loving husband and father. Will be missed greatly. Died aged 42 trying to save family from a fire in chapter one. Loved to gamble, his luck just ran out.

All right, here's my dear departed:

THEOPHILUS MARCELLO "PHIL" DUGGINS, aged 37, went home to be with the Lord this past Wednesday, July 14, 1982, in Fort Randolph City, Fake U.S. State. Mr. Duggins had served since 1979 as the director of the Fort Randolph City Planning Commission, the first Afro-American to hold that position, and at the time of his death was overseeing a project to rehabilitate the city's commercial core.

Born March 10, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Duggins earned his bachelor's degree in Urban Planning at the Illinois Institute of Technology and his master's in law from Howard University in Washington D. C., where he concentrated on property law. He spent his early working career with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, before returning to the Midwest to join the Wapatomekie law firm of Cutchins, Elliott, and Browne as a junior partner. It was there he came to the notice of the Hon. Bryson Reynolds, now mayor of Fort Randolph City, who recommended he apply for the position of City Planning Director. Always exemplary in his fulfillment of his duties in that role, Mr. Duggins will be sadly missed by his colleagues and by the city's elected officials.

Theophilus Duggins was a member of the Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, where he served as a deacon and as teacher of the junior high Bible class. He was the assistant coach of the "Little Bobcats" Little League team and volunteered at the Light of Dawn Rescue Mission. He leaves his wife, Rhoda Duggins (nee Demaree), and an eight-year-old daughter, Vonette, of the home; as well as his parents, Marcel and Bernice Duggins, of Chicago; a sister, Tryphena Mary Sutliff, of Nashville, Tennessee; a sister, Tryphosa Phoebe Lister, of Wheaton, Illinois; a brother, Linus Duggins, of Chicago; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Mount Zion A.M.E. Church at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 19, the Rev. Cornelius LaMott presiding. Burial will take place afterwards at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Greenview Road, Fort Randolph City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the church, to the Light of Dawn Rescue Mission, or to the Fort Randolph City Little League.
Oh, and here's a newspaper article relating to this death, from the Wapatomekie News-Herald:

FORT RANDOLPH CITY, Tuesday, July 20, 1982--- Slain Fort Randolph City Planning Director Theophilus "Phil" Duggins was laid to rest yesterday after funeral services at the packed Mount Zion A.M.E. Church.

Duggins's secretary, Roxanne Hathaway, discovered him dead in his office at the FRC Municipal Building when she arrived at work around 9:00 AM Wednesday morning. A spokesman from the county medical examiner's office has stated that although Duggins suffered severe blunt force trauma to the back of the head, the actual cause of death was a single stab wound to the heart, made with an ordinary steak knife. From the condition of the body, the medical examiner has concluded that death must have taken place around 7:15 that morning, well before the ordinary city employee reporting time of 8:00 AM. Mrs. Rhoda Duggins, the wife of the victim, has told police that her husband had left for work early to catch up on planning commission business. Both she and Ms. Hathaway state that, to their best knowledge, Duggins had no appointment to meet anyone at the municipal building around the time he was killed.

Local police are seeking information on possible suspects, and have revealed that the murder appears to have been racially motivated. Anyone with information that might lead to the arrest or conviction of the killer should call this number . . .
Now I feel like having a good cry for my murdered character. Though if I don't get up in the morning in time for work, I really will be crying!

Jindrich, 1877 - 1933. Died after being gored by a mad bull.
Dieudonne, 1904 - 1942. Killed by soldiers of a corrupt regime.
Linda, 1967 -2002. Killed when a drunk drive driver crashed into her car.

Survived by Corbin, aged 100 and Ffion, aged 23. All will be sorely missed - I feel really guilty now!

If you count all my currently considered ideas, regardless of how much of them I've written, just anything I'm positive about that's in the collection, then I'm a mass murderer. I've killed children!!

I haven't had a single character killed in my stories, as far as I remember. Am I doing something wrong? :p

(It might have something to do with the fact that I only have like one or two characters a story.)

Thaemas, I am guilty of plotting your impending demise. You are just in the way of love and war. And anyway, I have to say you are a dick. You should have just left my MC alone, bad judgement call. Bye bye from the storyline, I won't miss you nor will my MCs!

Romodom- You served as a loyal soldier for years stacked on top of years only to be drug into a conspiracy and put to you're death as a traitor. I`m sorry for writing your demise, yo were a good man but that did not matter to the narrative now did it?

Roland-You were a good man as well, former commander of the king's guard turned to a Pierre due to you're unholy parentage, an honorable leader, and warrior who was struck down in the heat of battle.

Duran- You were not a good man. You weren`t even a man you were a dwarve. You were a pragmatic and narrastic man, cast out from his brethren for slaughtering your own family in a move for power. Upon Roland`s death you, took control and committed barbaric acts until the day Volgar shoved his sword through you`r chest.

Volgar- You never actually died on screen but you were on the ground after being ran through in the abdomen so ya, chances are you deid alone in the woods after slaughtering the man who bastresd you're mentors memories.

Rolaf- You served in an elite unit before being cast out you then dedicated you're life to helping the villagers with problems of a supernatural bent, even taking in a dhampir child and training him to inhabit his world. After a knee injury you sellted down and started a inn all was good until a vampire ripped out you're throat...sorry.

Lieutenant Benny- 2497-2717 Died in Cryo-stasis due to complications. Your CO and Team known as Renegade regret your loss, but fight on in your honor. Pushing forward in their attempt to crush the ruthless Confederation Faction under the dictatorial control of the Chairmen. Your body has been sent back to Terra with an illegal flag as a warning of what is to come. Renegade will push forward with out you, and face the impending campaign with a smile and humor as you would in the heat of battle.

Shewlry- ---- 2717 To be cut down by shrapnel at the very facility on Callisto, that forced you to be a cybernetic prototype with out your consent. Your plasma blade will be a reminder and memory of your efforts to fight back at those that had forced you into your mechanical hell. For your efforts and aid to the CAF we thank you for your sacrifice.

Admiral Santoth- 2223-2718 Executed for treason to the Council of Elders in defiance of their wishes, and dishonorably discharged from the CAF, and an airlock.

Master Sergent Taokin- 2376-2718 Served with Honor in the Special Forces Shadow Company of the CAF. Your sacrifice was not in vain as you gave yourself to an explosive trap at a Harvest Facility in direct conflict with the Confederation in the Terra Conflict. Brother in arms, rest in peace. The CAF thanks you for your service and your sacrifice.

To those who have served the Renegade in their efforts and fallen we thank you for your service to the war effort. Many good men and women have laid down their lives to fight the tyrannical rogue faction on Terra. We honor those brave souls and their sacrifice as well as to the families that you leave behind. To all the brave that have fallen in combat: CAF, Uldivarion Empyreals, Martian Colonials.

To the Confederation and Mercenaries- F**K 'Em. Arrogance and Incompetence will be your undoing as you are battered to ruin for your servitude to the Chairmen and their corrupt power mad ways. You will be hunted down until nothing remains without mercy.

To the Chairmen- With the capture of the Queen, there is 29 now in custody of the Renegade and Joint Forces. It is only a matter of time until the King is found. Then the trial of these few who feel they are above all others will be underway. The people of Terra will be unshackled from their ideals and free from their iron fist. All will be executed for their high crimes to their people, their planet, and the solar system.

    RIP, Isaiah Goldman:
Mr. Goldman left this world the way he began, enveloped in tragedy. An affluent business man, Isaiah Goldman leaves behind a legacy of women's hosiery, humility, and honor. He is survived by his now penniless wife, Susannah, and three impossibly entitled children, Roseanne, Johnathan, and Isaiah Jr. In his will, Mr. Goldman asked that his obituary include this message:

You're all a bunch of dirty buzzards, and you don't deserve a cent.

It'd be fun to add to this thread brief death notices for my various deceased baddies, but I have half a hope that some members of these forums might want to read my novel once it's published. And revealing those guys' names and fates would be Giving Away the Plot. :dead:

Well, my novel starts with a death so, this works well for me.

R.I.P Durus Artorius, Marquis of Dunend, Governor of Dunmouth.

A humble man despite many great acts, Lord Durus was slain in his own home. Despite a great proficiency in the military, he would only take up arms when his people were threatened. He spent the majority of his latter years with his daughter, insisting she was given a proper education, and looking after his ward, Sophoniba. Many would praise his kind smile. He leaves his lands and title to whoever his daughter weds. Till that point, she will serve as warden of the land.

Matthew Brokos Jahorez "Matt" Yonderman was KIA at the all too young age of 20. A beloved son and brother, he has left behind a family in deep sorrow and a fatherless daughter. A daughter who soon was to have no parents at all. He died a hero, and a martyr. His relatively brief role as a slightly messianic figure somewhere in the middle of the first book was hopefully perceived as sufficiently meaningful, and served to spark character development in more ... complex characters.
