    Our Godforesaken World

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by poetryliberates, Dec 27, 2006.

Ok, i was just thinking about all of the horrible crap i hear about in the newspapers, and on the news. What is this world coming to? What the hell is wrong with people these days? ive heard some disturbing things from around the world, but i would have to say, that the one that shook me the most, would have to be, CTM..for those of you that have never eard of CTM, it stands for Cu*t The Movie. A disgusting takeoff of the movie 'Jackass'. 14 Australian boys, from eastern australia, filmed themselves, repeatedly torturing, raping and teasing a disabled girl, put it on a dvd, and on the net. They are proud of their little movie, yet thoughn nothing of the shame it would bring australia, and the worst part, all juveniles....
and then, the Jack The Ripper copycat in Ipswich recently, how sick can you get, and just recently...a 16 year old girl mudered by two school friends, and dumped into a wheelie bin.The body so badly decomposed, that the cops had to use dental records to identify the body....and last but not least, little sophia rodriguez, a small pretty little girl, wandered to a mall toilet and was grabbed raped and murdered without anyone noticing, found moments later by her older brother...

i dont get it, why take someone elses life? this world is sick, backwards and twisted.....

Yeah it most certainly is a sick world that we are living in.
It is pretty bad when you can't even feel safe in your own home anymore or even feel safe enough to let your children play outside on their own.
I stopped reading the papers and watching the news because it really disgusts me with the way the world has turned out.
I mean how can people do things like this and live with themselves. I don't know how they could be proud of a movie like that, they deserve to have their genitalia removed and have to urinate through a bag for the rest of their lives. Then see how proud they are of themselves!!!
How can anyone get a thrill out of raping someone, it sickens me.

    you've got to realize....
some humans are not bound by moral reason, nor are they tied to any sense of mercy. It is either they recieved none, or they are just the seeds of evil in our world. We have been bred into a world where there is no censorship, it is what we call Freedom. What was once a great ideal has become another reason to wonder why we deserve this luxury.

What has been done was not right, but only we as a people have the power to change and put these criminals to their rightful punishment.

Okay, when things get this doom-and-gloom philosophical, I just kind of turn up my Bruce Springsteen CD and go back to writing my comics.

Hey philosophy is kind of the roots of writing.

are you only just now noticing how inhumane humans are?... humankind was badly named and will never improve, sad to say... nothing has changed since the first homonid picked up a rock and decked another... a piece i wrote a while back says it all:

    Etymology of an Endangering Species

    homo sapiens sapiens...
    wise “knowing knowing” man...
    knows less about himself
    than any lesser creature can

    mankind is blind
    with self-protective,
    truth-selective sight,
since he might otherwise be maligned

man- is the Latin root for hand,
    while kind, though meaning “sort”
    means “nice” as well... and
    there’s where man falls short

but go to German and you find
    “kind” is kind (like “twinned”),
    a word for little child...
too mild a word for man, who’s sinned
    enough to make his stuff
    inexcusable... his pleas refusable.

    homo erectus... upright man,
best joke of all, humans are bent...
standing tall, we let evil infect us...
    nothing else wrecked us,
    if the truth were known...
we did it all on our own

    however mankind might have been,
despite what it was that linked us
    to those original “knowing” men,
we deserve to be homo extinctus!

The world has always been messed up. There will always be sick, twisted people in it. Unlike Pokemon, we can never catch them all.

Yeah the world is messed up, but like any mess, it can be cleaned up if people just got off their *&$%* and actually did something about it for a change.

Believe it, bucko. >.> (I've noticed that one of the disadvantages to being a 12-year-old forumer is that you act too smart, and then people think you're some pedo posing as a child. Eeurgh.)

But back on topic- they always tell you that you, by yourself, can make a difference. But once you cut through all the moralized crap, you come to the conclusion that that's just not true. To make a difference, humanity needs to come to one, simultaneous, everybody-in effort. Think of the song you sang in kindergarten: "Cleanup, cleanup, everybody do their share, cleanup, cleanup, everybody everywhere." It's a kid's nursery rhyme, but as a world message, it could be even more effective than anything written by Bono. Basically, what it says is, Sure you can try doing something helpful by yourself- but it just doesn't matter unless everybody does something.

Thusly I said We have the will to change.

All the effort of a single individual can go to waste on some lost cause, but as a people we can offer more than just an opinion we can start a revolution.

Revolutions are good for mass reform. Poetryliberates is talking more about actions of perverse individuals, which no amount of revolutionary thinking or action can change.

Oh, I've always been an advocate of eating the retarded.

However, rapists and pedophiles and murderers will always exist.

There's a lot of good going on in the world, too, don't forget. Sure, the bad stuff is bad, but the good stuff is very good.

    Cheers,

Very good point Robert. With all the bad experiences and events that surround every day life, people are beginning to forget about the good things in life.

trouble is, the bad has always outweighed the good, where humans are concerned... and unless you can either 'reform' or eradicate all the bad-doing ones in the world, no amount of 'good' will make any major difference...

you might not like to believe it, but that won't make it not so...

I don't think the bad outweighs the good. Actually, crime rates have gone down quite a bit from twenty or even ten years ago. However, reports of crime have gone up. You turn on the news, and all you see is rape and murder and robbery and war, blah dah dah dah dah. You don't often see reports of people committing selfless acts. But it happens all the time.

that may be true if you're only looking at your own narrow national/local view, and not the global perspective...

as a practicing philosopher, i study/observe the entire human race [current behavior and its history] and base my conclusions on the whole picture, rather than merely a small corner of it...
