What will you make of the blank slate that is 2014?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by bhshravankumar, Jan 2, 2014.

What can you create? What changes can you make stick?

These are the questions to ask ourselves right now. Imagine a year from now, as we’re finishing 2014 — what new habits will you have then?

The new habits I am embracing as regards forum life is a greater willingness to extend my mind out into other regions and schools of thought on writing and publishing and bring them back here for us to consider. Not everything in life need be accepted, but failure to consider has a guaranteed and dear opportunity cost. ;)

I'm hoping to build my faith through reading my Bible and studying it more. I'm also incredibly unfit, despite being a normal weight (high metabolism), so I've joined a website called Nerd Fitness to try and get in shape a little bit. :)

If there is to be a third thing, hopefully I'll know by the end of the year what sort of genre I want to break into. At the moment it seems to be just general fiction, but things may change.

It's been 25 days since my last cigarette. I'm hoping to be able to say 2014 will have been smoke free. I also hope to save money for a ring for the most wonderful/beautiful person.
And, most related to this site, my novel sucks. I tried to read it and almost tore it up. That shall change before next year.

Congratulations on 25 smoke-free days! I'm sure it can't be easy, but well done you. :D

I am planning on writing more and hopefully, have some short work published.

Also, I have started learning Dothraki a week ago.
Hopefully I'll be semi-fluent by the end of 2014.

Are you trying to get overall fat loss or just show a sixpack?

For my wants of the year:
I want to finish script #1, get it critiqued, rewrite it as needed and enter it into competitions.

Six-packs require stringent diet management over much else, and it'll be a few more years before fat loss is needed, which would probably be better treated with cardio. I certainly wish the ab wheel would do that for me, though:).

I heard that nurses have a lot of back problems, so I researched it and found that, among other things, core strength helps prevent those issues. I'm hoping it will improve my posture and balance, as well as general mobility. My current baking job can be a little hard on the back at times, so it serves as a good testing ground for my (hopefully) future nursing career.
