    'justified' and 'explained' are not at all the same... not even close...

    'justified' means the rude or destructive action is allowable and excusable, due to some factor that makes it ok to do it, in re common morality/legality or within stated rules...

    'explained' only provides reasons why the person may have committed the act and does not excuse them for doing so, does not mean such an action is allowed, or legal, or morally correct/excusable...

    explain:
    1. to make plain or clear; render understandable or intelligible: to explain an obscure point.
    2. to make known in detail: to explain how to do something.
    3. to assign a meaning to; interpret: How can you explain such a silly remark?
    4. to make clear the cause or reason of; account for: I cannot explain his strange behavior.

    justify:
    1. to show (an act, claim, statement, etc.) to be just or right: The end does not always justify the means.
    2. to defend or uphold as warranted or well-grounded: Don't try to justify his rudeness.

    ^ Dictionary definitions. Keyword in justify is "just" or being morally sound.
