    Kindle - Stubborn little .mobis

Discussion in 'Writing Software and Hardware' started by Tenderiser, Mar 22, 2016.

Not sure if this is the right subforum but anyway...

With the new Kindle update, all the .mobis I've ever sent to my Kindle and then deleted have come back from the dead. I've got 145 versions of my novels on there, and every time I delete them they appear again a second later. My mum is having the same trouble with one I sent to her, so I know it's not just me.

Has anyone figured out a way around it?

Have you tried removing them from the kindle admin page on amazon?

Kindles are great. I will prefer the physical book, but wouldn't give up my Kindle and all of the books on it.

The world won't look good once we've chopped down all the trees to make paper books ;)

Ever since the update I can't remove a listing from my device without deleting it from my account altogether. Choosing "delete from device" deletes the book from the Kindle itself, but leaves the title behind. Once I've read a book, unless it was crap, I want to keep it on Amazon, but delete it from my device so my device isn't cluttered. No more. I'm still stuck with the title, even though the book is gone.

    That's my issue.

Until they fix it (which I hope they will...) I've created a collection called 'Deleted' and move all the titles there. At least they don't clutter up my To Be Read list any longer.

I never thought of that. I don't use 'collections,' so it didn't occur to me. I'll do that. But stupid, eh? I wonder why they changed that?

I do the same, have a collection for books I've read and also one for those I enjoyed enough to maybe want to read again. Some books I know will only be read once, but I can enjoy some several times.

:superlaugh::superlaugh::superlaugh: I'm so sorry I find this funny but it sounds like an army of novels has risen from the dead to haunt you and your Kindle hahahahahaha!

And no, I have no solution.

I picture @Tenderiser walking into a massive clone farm with thousands of green tanks.

She walks in; failed subjects on either side, each with some deformation, until she reaches the perfect subject, subject 146.
Of course getting out of the laboratory isn't as easy as getting in. They know shes here now.
The two of them sprint back towards the exit, Tenderiser wanting nothing to with these aborted subjects and 146 willing to do anything to put this purgatory behind it.

They slam the door close, or at least it would have slammed if all those damned limbs hadn't been in the way...

Plot twist: Subject 147 hatched secretly. It's @Cave Troll.

Doesn't the "ALL / DOWNLOADED" switch help? It sits right above your book list/grid. As far as I understand it, if you have selected "ALL" (if selected, it's bold) it shows all your books, even if you have them bought or assigned to your account, and with "DOWNLOADED", it shows only the books that are actually on your Kindle (i.e., not the books you only have in the cloud).
