    Picture Game

Discussion in 'Writing Prompts' started by Carmina, Jan 29, 2009.

This is a game where you write something inspired by the picture(s) from the post above you. You then post your own picture for the next person.

I will start with these pics of a snake trying to eat a trout

    Have you bitten off
    more than you can chew?
    Eyes too big?
    Stomach too small?
    Has greed
    gotten the better of you?
    It's not too late
    to let go,
    go hungry,
    but go on.
    Or will you
    let yourself choke
    on your own ambition?

    Have fun with this one...

    Growing up too fast
    Tattoos and piercings
    Children, only children
    Claiming their bodies
    Independance
    Identity
    "This is who I am"
    They say
    To young to know
    What that really means

Florence looked out at what remained of humanity. The world.
Charred, burnt, dead. Only a memory of hope remained.
But, what was that bit of green sprouting through the dirt?
He gingerly knelt to examine it. His heart was in his throat. Dare he believe?
With one finger he touched the object of his dreams...
No! It was only a discarded candy wrapper.

Might this mean a convenience store was near by?
    Hope surged again...

    I see a cat now

Bailey couldn't help but laugh at Booker's predicament.
"I told you something bad would happen if you kept doing nip"
"Shut up and get the human!" Booker yowled from his awkward position with his head caught between two posts of the banister.
"Oh, I bet she'll get her camera and post your picture on ihascheezeburgers.com."
"Wait, no. Don't let her do that. Princess might see the pictures and never let me father her kittens."
    Bailey laughed again.
"Come on dude. The human took your nuts years ago."
"Fine, get the human, but I'll make sure to scratch her when she gets outta this mess."

On she gazed, with belly-deep cries and blood curdled eyes, with the distant
memory of song birds and candy circling her mind,
of laughter and snowcake and sticky mud-pies,
and behind frosted glass, she did sit and pray,
To see Daddy, much missed, again someday.

    Lovely snow,
    Covers all--
    Hides the colors,
    Makes them white.
    "Sunshine where are you?"
    I shiver as I ask.
    Take the cold,
    And bring back life:
    Make the world anew.

    notice me
    look at me
    look what I can do
    can you do that?
    aren't I special
    put me on tv
    give me my fifteen
    hurry now
    before I'm too old
    and have nothing special
    anymore

    LOL! that was hilarious 'mina!

Paint me a picture of a rose-tinted scene,
of beautiful meadows and waves at the sea,
    with cool grass and sunshine, and fresh summer air;
abundant with squirrels and creatures that share
all these beautiful things, and so much more.
I'll tell you 'I swear i've been there before...'
and you'll tell me you see that place in your dreams,
where we lay with eachother by cool river streams....

    (I CAN'T RELATE TO SNOW!)

    One day
    little hunter
    you will rule the North.
    Icebergs will be your chariot
    Glaciers your palace
    Aurora Borealis your ceiling
    You will outsmart the seal
    with regal cunning
    and feast on it flesh.
Today, you are still a babe
    hide in the snow
Momma will bring you a meal.

Aaaww you wrote a cute one none the less.

Surreal in your darkness, your harsh twisted thoughts
Who are you, why are you, and what brings you forth?
What brings you so close and so near,
to everything I have held so dear?
Will you tarnish, replenish, oh what will you do?
Show me the real man inside of you...

    The camel cares not
    for pyramids she passes
    nor the pharaohs
    nor his priests
    nor their lost gold.
    Mummies and curses
    do not frighten her.
The sand does not burn her feet
nor the sand sting her eyes
nor the sun burn her skin.
    But even the camel
    thirsts.

    Dipped... in the sea,
    bubbles chase and
    surrounding me.
    Coral sand and,
    blue ocean rip
    carries away my,
    business trip.
    Packed suitcase,
    and memories.
    Daily struggles,
    forgotten briefly.

Breathing deeply, Snooty, the bubble dog imagines what "Fresh air" must smell like. Or trees, flowers, people... Day 693 in his back yard bubble is bland and boring, just like the others. Perhaps the mail man will come and say hello today (after putting on the required sterile suit and gloves, first, ofcourse). It's tough having been born with no immune system. Oh, there goes that cute poodle, 'Francy'. *arf arf!* his muted barks carry through the glass. She doesn't notice. Well, back to my bird watching, Snooty sighs.

In the news today... the citizens of M'zwiba fled in terror as a UFO mysteriously appeared and began snatching up residents two weeks ago. Later, they were returned unharmed, but with a serious condition the doctors are calling 'Blochkin's Disease' named after the famed physicist who discovered the Blanksteins virus.

The infected speak in a strange language dubbed 'Blochspeak' and tremble when exposed to milk. They seem to prefer a strict diet of limestone rock and lichen.

More to come as this story unfolds...

...Alas another unfortunate side effect of the dreaded Blochkins disease is the occurance Symbiopedopsis; in which, two symbiant life forms take up residence in the victim's feet. Here, another photo reveals what life is like for one such victim. Affectionately referred to as "Lefty" and "Righty" these three life forms have learned to coexist. The host human can eventually even come to recognize the specific likes and dislikes of each symbiant. In the above photo, it is clear that while Righty enjoys the rush and thrill of danger, Lefty struggles with 'inner toe' disorder and the constant whooshing disturbs his equilibrium quite too much.
    The next slide shows...

Three sisters, so different, yet alike to eachother,
The blame must fall squarely on their insane mother,
Who produced strange children, though they are kind and gentle,
their mum had a fling with a kitchen utensil,
and though i'm not biased, lord only knows..
She did produce kids with a spoon for a nose!

Alas, the final stage of Blochkin's disease, in which the victim completely melts into one "Tri-man".

    Strange life
    that dwells in the dark
how did you come to be?
    In the depths
    under pressure
    How do you survive?
    Strange life you may be
    But, life finds a way.

    Vanity, Vanity,
    Makeup-smeared profanity,
hide the tears, run from the years,
at the sake of your own sanity.

To start off young; so enthralled it's true
To create such beauty; dresses, coats, cute little shoes
To work and to work; To become the best
Slowly and unsurely; everyday is a test

The time drips by; infrequent splashes of blue
The smiles of those beloved; beautiful in hue
So great and so sincere; unlike your own
Sweet and yet bitter; For you have quietly grown

Now in your fifties; no family you can hold
Hidden and shy; unlike your former self; not so bold

    Forever and forever
    Slowly forgotten
    Children lead you away
    To your own little home

    Quiet and forgotten
    Rocking yourself to sleep
    Snug in a wedding dress

I'll do pic in next post once I find it

    take aim
    for honor,
    valor,
    country,
    take aim
    let fly the arrow
    straight as truth
    swift as justice
    for all you stand for
