The parts of your soul you refuse to recognize.
In the future, you can make these decisions for yourself. Again, sorry for not being on top of things.

At the first sign of spring

Winter is finally over, the grass is poking out as
the first rays of sun warm the earth. Everywhere
animals can be seen displaying the magical dance
of life. The air is fresh, the world is at peace for
that wonderful moment; at the first sign of spring.
Oh how it lifts the spirit to hear the birds began to
sing once again, see the new baby animals so full
of life and catch a glimpse of the blue sky.

The ugly gray and brown will soon be replaced by
the soft green of grass and the colorful array of flowers.

At the first sign of spring the deer will leap, the
birds will fly high in the sky, the bees will dance
amongst the roses and the horses will gallop
across endless meadows just for the fun of it!

Sometimes I feel like leaping, flying, dancing
and galloping right alone with them, so powerful is
    this magical sensation.

It only comes once a year but I’ll never forget
each special moment, the beautiful harmony that
can only come from the first sign of spring!

    The leaves around her falling
She feels beaten by the frigid air
Her body drenched by heavy rain
She's out in the sun to dry her hair

    It seems she's always running
And the serenity she feels is all too brief
The dark winter again is calling
And she longs to feel the heat

Her life's a never ending cycle
And she wishes she could turn back time
She takes a hit and falls a victim to the seasons
    Just one more time

Snow capped trees and icy lakes,
Santa Claus and little snow flakes,
Gloves and scarves and big warm coats,
Fold away tables and tied up boats,
Stored away for the winter storm,
Waiting for the icicles to form.
    Windy days and snowy nights,
Dark, dull sky and moon so bright,
Getting wet and covered in snow,
Then settling in front of the fire’s glow,
Winter’s days are nearly gone now,
And soon the spring will give a bow.

    Winter Sunset

The complexion, nature couldn’t do any better.
It is a dream to every commuter men.
    Appreciation manifests upon their faces
As they shovel and trowel in competition
And hope you bring against their exhaustion
That a cup burning of hot coffee and tea,
As the wood struggles in ash and coal production,
Shall sooth their dry icing skin of rubber.

    I could not move away,
Move away from the comfort, of thy rays
While they marked a terrible night of freezing
As they partially satisfied my skin,
My mind fantasized as I watched thy beauty.
What if I could fly and run the tips of my fingers?
So as to raise the speed of thy furnace!
And fascinate my muscle cover in warmth.

A cry of agony I heard form above.
The poor bird was saying its prayers
Protesting and procrastinating as it did.
A glimpse through nets of drying leaves
I could see, a posture like a statue
Shivering it couldn’t, it was deep in thought
    For the sight of your face implied;
    Another task added for tomorrow
    To today’s mission unaccomplished.

    The wind whispers

Time to go time to go
    In V-formation

    I find my place
    Under my wings

    an updraft
    Lifts me higher

    and higher
    To leave behind snow

    I fly
    South of winter.

    woodsmoke.

    The ritual burning of fall
    and the treasures she sheds
    (like pennies from a pocket)
    twined round my room,
poking a black nose into everything,
and left that smudgy smell behind.
I almost choked on that sense of
    Years Ago, more
    than yesterday, on
    the vacuum made in my lungs;

    it expects these frigid airs
to be inhaled, drawn in charcoal
and stale fumes. No longer nubile
    as life alone - woodsmoke,
    cold lakes, protective dirt
    can't follow onto paved roads.
Now all is chemical, and little erosions
react like static across my skin.
My fingers are nubby and I smell
    of gasoline, and breath
is cold. So I hold it tight,
that last mountain air still wafting
    inside my chest.

    Cough Cough Sneeze

    Coughing and wheezing,
    tissues scattered everywhere.
    Nose is running,
    the snot won’t stop.

    Puffy eyes, aches and pains.
    Panadol, cough syrup,
    hot packs galore.

    The heater is going,
    head is pounding.
    So light headed,
    needing to sleep,

    The rain pours down
    and the sun lays hidden,
    behind the darkest grey clouds.

    The thunder rolls
    and the lightning strikes.
This is how we know winter is here
