    "My Personal Hell"

    It is but a dream.
    It is but a dream,
    This personal hell,
    A life I cannot forget.
    A life I cannot forget,
    A life I cannot escape,
    This depression.
    This depression,
    Something I cant change,
    I wait.
    I wait,
    For something to click,
    In this personal hell.
    In this personal hell,
    I sit and wait,
    Wait and bleed.
    Wait and bleed,
    For someone to call out
    And rescue me.
    And rescue me,
    From this darkened place,
    That which I hate.
    That which I hate,
    Myself, this depression
    That I cannot surmise.
    That I cannot surmise,
    That which I cannot surmise.

    The warning ...

In my mind there is a beach,
    Glossy sand and smiling sun
    Clear waters, promised fun,
Full of people i can’t reach.

    Happy faces, no one’s down,
    Glancing sight and promised cue
    Blonde, brunette and redhead too,
All in contrast of my frown.

But my beach has turned to swamp,
Taunting with what life should be
    Darkened prison just for me,
Eyes too mired, legs so damp.

Stuck in here, i just yell,
“I know not if you’re aware
    But my fellow traveler beware,
    This is my personal hell.”

Following the footprints in the sand...
    Ember

    Wind up songs, broken wings...
    A shoe, buckles rusted, fading...
    Among these discarded things...
A place almost hidden by a dead tree's shading...

The raven's call, the only sound...
    No longer there, a child...
    And the ubiquitous hound...
A place once settled, reclaimed and wild...

    Pictures cast of butterfly wings...
    A small octagonal box...
Once wound, a waltz it did sing...
A door with tarnished brass locks...

    Ember dim, a piercing burn...
    A memory, there...
Small toes gripping, through a turn...
    Across a carpet worn threadbare...

    Singing out, sweet and low...
    Swirling...whirling...twirling...
In those arms as the song begins to slow...
    Twirling...swirling...whirling...

Endless rounds, these simple notes play...
A and C and E and D...A sharp in there just before the G...
A dance, with whom...? No one can say...
Shoes so bright, they made it hard to see...

    Ember dim, memory taken...
    From a bright mind...
From a soul, who cannot waken...
Lost in a place no one can find...

Such is the prison of a fading mind...

    Lookout!
    Whatsthat!
    Smash, Bang, Crash,
Not on my watch, Doctor Crazy,
    KaBOOOOOOM!
    Noise and flashing lights,
    Just noise and flashing lights,
    And I finished my drink
    before the popcorn.
    ... Dammit.

A moment just before the dawn

The teacup round and round, it spins.

    In its exalted axis.

Handle lost, to oscillations without further notice.

    Only cracks remain at night.

    Round and round...

A drop of red descends, from the injured finger.

    An impact with no sound.

The cup is split in a million pieces.

    One nonsense act.

Just before dawn dismembers the horizon.

It seems that light and dark are mixed somewhat.

A demon in the shadow, an angel in the blood.

    The murmur of chatter,
    Like an entity itself,
Is all that can be heard.
The room is a thick dark brown
    And the thick dark atmosphere
    Hangs over all.
I am alone here – at this table.
I am sitting with a beer,
    waiting on a burger
And outside a train is waiting,
Being seen to by many men
    Who are making many sounds.

    I reach for my bag.
I fumble for my train tickets
To check they are still there,
And feel for my copy of La Nausée.
And the train outside just sits,
    Waiting for something to happen.
