    Hollow Heart

At the crest of a rise stood an oak, hollow hearted and old.
Its branches gnarled with age, warped by weather.
Lifted to the sky, its silent prayer for a break in the cold,
A chance to once more see the blooming heather.

For with the return of the zephyr, so too came a heart home.
For deep in that hollow was the nest of the lark,
who sang the hymn 'neath nature's cathedral dome.

    How To Make A Nest

    Ingredients:
    2 un-Happy people
    2 halves of a Whole
    1 good chemical mixture
    1000 conversations
    1 question
    2 roofs
    2 front doors
    2 mailboxes
    2 beds
    1 ???

Combine in favorable conditions: people, halves, chemicals and conversations. Let simmer for at least a year. If timed correctly, should turn into 2 Happy people. Add question and wait to rise. Then in a populated area mix roofs, front doors, mailboxes and beds well over low heat for at least two weeks. Fold in Happy people to mixture. Watch closely so they don't separate, should turn into 1 Strong Bond. Slowly sprinkle in ???, wait for it to take then decorate as needed and serve hot. Serves 2.

    Ruffle

    It isn't wherever
    I place my hat,
    sit in my chair,
    or pet my cat.

    My home is a nest,
    a place I roost,
    built from sticks I've gathered
    from distant coasts.

    Flying away
    won't ruffle my feathers.
    I'll build again
    with what the sky weathers.

    It isn't a place
    I lay my head,
    but sky a blanket
    and memories a bed.
