Posting a Short Story for a Contest Question.

Discussion in 'Bi-Weekly Short Story Contest Archives' started by wordweaver, Oct 2, 2007.

This is just a general question about posting a short story.

Do you guys like to have the word count, and genre added to the piece?

Also, what would warrant a disclaimer? Just want to know if I need one. ;)

    Thanks! :)

Just the word count, really. Additional information may be added if you think it's necessary.

Yes it does make it easier to have the word count added to the piece. Although we do check the word count.
No other information is really necessary, but you may add it as you wish.

The genre should also be implicit to the topic set that week so shouldn't need adding to the piece. :)

Who's to say where one person can write a dramatic story about a topic, another couldn't interpret the topic as humorous? some topics might be more difficult, but it is generally possible...

Sorry - allow me to clarify - the topic should be as per that contest's instructions, how you interpret it be that humourous or dramatic etc is up to the author. There is therefore no need to include the topic along with a word count as that should be taken as a given, nor is there need to include the genre of your work within that topic - that is preference. Happy contesting.

The only instance I can think of that should warrant a disclaimer is if your story contains profanity or material that is unsuitable for younger members.
