    predicative positions

    Would the following boldfaced phrases get hyphens in their predicative positions after the to-be verbs--yes or no?

    The technology incorporated in this new facility is state-of-the-art.

    They may invent a new website or gadget that is cutting-edge. / The invention is cutting-edge.

    "The quiz is multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank," Andy said.

    Yeah, I think in these particular instances, the hyphens hold the phrases together nicely and facilitate an easy read.
