    Hmmm

Discussion in 'Traditional Publishing' started by NikkiNoodle, May 12, 2011.

I've read that posting more than small snippets of your work in forums or on the net makes the road to publishing rocky. What I wonder is if posting plot points and characters for feedback is just as dangerous, or if there is a high likelyhood of idea theft? 'Cause I have some idea's I'd like to share for feedback but having never done it before I'm a little leery...

Ideas are worthless. Don't sweat it.

He's right. Ideas also can't be copyrighted, so it wouldn't really be "theft" anyway. It all comes down to how you write it, and no two writers would write the same idea in the same way.

I don't like to post unusual names that I particularly fancy using at a later date, but apart from that, I don't worry about giving anything away. I'm afraid I've stopped posting stories of any length as I've had some luck with publishing a few, and I don't want to compromise this.
