    Question for my query letter

Discussion in 'Publishing' started by NoaMineo, Dec 1, 2010.

As a volunteer, I ran a teen writers club for a few years that was very successful. Is this something I should mention in a query? It's basically the closest thing to a professional credential I have. I was in my early twenties when I was running it, so it's not like I was just a teen helper, I literally founded and ran the group.

Southern California, U.S.A. It's a sword-and-sorcery fantasy, the protagonist is trying to reform a long-extinct order of warrior-mages. I've built a very extensive history going back thousands of years. Of course, the whole thing is set on another world, so it's all made up by me.

It probably isn't relevant then - I understand the US doesn't require the biography bit like they do here in the UK. Someone else can give you a clearer idea though.

There's no real specific nation-wide trend, some agents ask for biographies, some don't. I guess that's something I'd want to include if the agent asks for a brief biography?

yes maybe they are moving the same way as here. I have included public speaking, being a Mum etc in mine. However there may be different guidelines for the US.

Thanks for the advice, I think I've got a good handle on it now.
