    Antares Rocket Explodes After Liftoff

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Ulramar, Oct 28, 2014.

The title is pretty self explanatory. A few seconds after liftoff the rocket was apparently headed off course so they aborted and blew it up.

But there's something missing from the story: I was there. Well, sort of. It was supposed to be launched last night but got scrubbed because some boater was in the safety zone (good thing they scrubbed, given that it blew up!), and I was there yesterday. Sadly I did not return today.

Sadly I cannot add a photo from last night because the photos are too large, but yeah. We were 1.5 miles from the pad. We would've felt that blast had it happened last night.

I don't know why I'm posting this, I felt like I should. Carry on with your daily routine.

Interesting. Expensive, but glad no one was hurt.

Thankfully no one was hurt that we know of. But debris, including shrapnel, is everywhere.

"Poof." That was the sound of millions of dollars gone up in smoke.

"Poof." The sound of astronauts shitting themselves as they realize they're going to be really hungry really soon.
