    rapid peristalsis of words

Discussion in 'General Writing' started by Garball, May 25, 2013.

Do you have moments (hours, days, fortnights) while writing when all your thoughts and words want to escape your body like uncontrollable vomiting or diarrhea? No matter what you do, you can not slow down the flow and create any coherency; you can only look down into that puddle and think what the feck is that supposed to be. It is like food poisoning purging Broca and Wernicke's areas and frustrating as hell.

They say all writing is re-writing...so, make something out of it.

i have hours like that, in those times i get a biro or pencil rather than my usual fountain pen, and a4 paper to just get it all out, the coherancy will come later, when i pick it up again with a fresh look and my fountain pen, along with maybe another piece of paper. and what Nee said is very similar to my signature

Absolutely! There are some days when I feel like trying to write something sensible is akin to digging a sliver of wood out of my big toe, but on other days, the words just come in a gush. A rapid peristalsis of words would be an excellent way to describe it indeed :)

Let's not forget the Angular Gyrus. ;)

And, yes. I think it happens to many of us. :)

First of all that visual is super disgusting. Second it is very accurate and I know precisely what you're talking about.
