This is happening as part of the London Sci-Fi Festival: 48hr Flash Fiction Contest The premise is: on Saturday 2nd April, you'll be e-mailed a title and a line of dialogue. By Monday 1:00 PM London time, you need to have sent them back a story of no more than 1500 words. I did it last year, and it was a lot of fun. I'll probably give it another go this year. If you want some idea of what you've got to beat, I also won last year, and what I sent in is in the workshop: Baxter and Baxter
I saw some examples of prizes for the film contest, does the writing contest pay out? Or at least give you a cool hat if you win, or something.
There wasn't any money, but I got a bag of stuff (t-shirt, mug, various other bits), and anyone on the final shortlist (6 people, last year) got invited to an awards ceremony for all the 48hr stuff they were doing and the after-party.
I don't have time to do the contest this weekend. I read Baxter and Baxter, I thought it was great. Good job and good luck this year.
