Short Story Contest 13 Theme: Poppies / Remembrance Open to all, newbies and established members alike. Please post your entries in this thread. At the deadline I will collate all entries and put them forward for voting in a seperate thread. Sadly there are no prizes but honour on offer. The winning entry will be stickied until the next competition winner. Theme: Poppies / Remembrance (courtesy of Hulls Raven): To continue with seasonal themes this contests topic is poppies. In the Uk poppies are used to symbolise those fallen in battle and are displayed in remembrance for the 11th Novemeber Remembrance Day. The image comes from the poppy fields where forces fought in France. You could write a story containing a poppy / poppies or about remembrance as a concept. Your story about a poppy / poppies need not be about remembrance but should attempt symbolism at some level. Required Length: 500 - 3000 words. (Word limit lessened this time in a trial) Deadline for entries: 21st Novemeber 2007 18.00 (Uk local) There is a ten percent leniency above and below the upper and lower word limits, respectively. Please try to stick within these limits I would hate for your pieces not to qualify. Try to make your story be complete and have an end rather than be an excerpt from a larger one. Please remember to give your piece a title and give its word count in brackets at the top of your story. Thanks and good luck.
