Closed Voting Short Story Contest #166 Theme: "Progress" Voting is CLOSED

Discussion in 'Bi-Weekly Short Story Contest Archives' started by GingerCoffee, Dec 5, 2014.

    Short Story Contest #166
    Theme: "Progress" courtesy of @Storysmith

Contest story entries can be found HERE

We have nine interesting entries in this contest. The winner will be revealed in two weeks and the winner thread will be stickied until the next contest's winner is crowned. No more entries are allowed in this contest.

Entries are listed in the poll in the order posted.

Voting extended to Monday December 22nd, 2014 ~5 pm Pacific Time in hopes the three-way tie will break. :D

I encourage authors to vote. While it is controversial, it remains acceptable in the short story contest to vote for yourself. I encourage you to vote honestly. In the name of good sportsmanship only vote for yourself if you have read all the other stories and given them your honest evaluation.

Consider how the author has responded to the theme, as well as the quality of the writing and overall impression of the story in making your decision.

The stories have been enjoyable so read for enjoyment, learning, and to vote. Don't look at it like a chore.

Finally, thanks to all for patience with the short story contest. I only have one more week for the busy season in my day job.

A reminder to start reading so you can vote. Don't wait to the last minute with this many stories. You don't need to read them all in one sitting. :D

We have a three-way tie at the moment so I'm going to leave the voting open for 24 more hours. There are some excellent stories in this round so I'm not surprised there is a tie going on. If any of you don't normally vote, this is your chance to make a difference. The next person to vote might just be the tie breaker. :)

Come on folks, don't keep us in suspense. We have a three-way tie and need a tiebreaker. :)

Oh, and thank you to the 10 people who have voted.

Just a humble suggestion...if you're unable to break the tie, perhaps re-vote only the tied entries? I know that isn't exactly "fair" as we put it, but it's most likely to break a tie.

I was hoping to avoid the tediousness of a runoff vote.

This may be a dumb question, but is there a way to post an announcement to the forum (is there a main page?) to others that may not pay attention to this contest?
