    To my Brit friends...apologies

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by NaCl, Dec 4, 2009.

Just watched the FIFA World Cup seeding draws on TV for 2010. Unfortunately, England drew the USA in round 1 and I apologize, in advance, for the drubbing we will put on the poor Brits. The good news? Group C's other two teams (Algeria and Slovenia) are not strong, so England has a chance to make the second round against the winner of Group D (that will be Germany...OUCH!).

Guess the UK better start planning for World Cup in 2014! LOL

Oooh NaCl that's fighting talk! However, it won't do much to stop us from coming top =] as we most definitely will haha. USA vs Germany sounds like a good match to watch though!

To our dearest British friends, we love you so very much and we go way back. However, yes, we will lay the smackdown on you. :D

Pfft... the only international sporting event that matters is the Olympics, and the only Winter Olympic event that matters is hockey, and as for that... they don't even need to play, Canada has already won.

Also, go England. Because my country doesn't do this whole soccer thing I have to cheer for a country where my ancestors came from :(

    You have a football team?

Seriously, we're doing great at the moment. Although another chance to give Germany a 5-1 smackdown is tempting...

I'll settle for giving the Aussies a good hammering in the second round after getting out of the group with a 100% record ;)

The UK and Britain don't need to plan their next move - just England. Scotland still has a chance, right?

    Wales?

    Northern Ireland?

    Um, Cornwall?

    No?

Well, we'd be the best at Gaelic football internationally, for sure ;)

Aw man. You've done it now.

Expect Cuchulain, Somerled and...uh, a mythical Welshman with a beard and a bad attitude to be at your doorstep any minute now for this grievous infraction.

    ;)

England got such a good draw (as didi USAfor the same group.) both should be easy picks into round two. though the USA and England game will be one of the "most' wanted watches for me.

Australia, getting the draw of death is no surpise....Australia and football shouldn't really go together. Ranked 13th and the third best team in the group really has to give it the group of death feel.

    Can't wait

So do most football fans. But you don't have to join in with them ;)

They're different constituent countries, with their respective cultural groups, religions, laws, and languages, and NO there's one of them there that wasn't conquered by England. Well, two, if you include England itself...

Could have been worse...Group G and Group A are really tough. If Australia can get past Ghana they have a good shot at making the next round. Good chance that Australia and USA could meet in round 2.

If that's the case then saying that wasn't really a joke or poking fun; no offense, it was just silly.

A little late on the response, but the 49ers are my team. The best thing I can say about them is that I gave up on the season a little more slowly than I did the last few years.
