Yeah, but those are historical non-fiction so future generations know exactly where civilization went wrong, and can hopefully avoid our fate. I was thinking more of a fictional evil website, one that we have a chance of defeating.
Hmm... I guess having a chance at victory does appeal to a larger audience. Even though I do not believe that we are obliged to adhere to this standard. Why? Sometimes I just like to keep it real

I think it's a great premise. I agree with previous posters that it will need to be determined whether MC wants to be evil or whether he is compelled to be evil by some outside force or other determining event (like a prophesy that is fulfilled). I love stories that are written from the antagonist's pov but we as the reader are rooting for him anyway (Dexter, anyone?).
