    Seperation Anxiety

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Torana, Jun 20, 2007.

Well in 6 weeks I am going to be going over east for a week holiday and to meet up with a friend of mine.
It is the first time I am going out of the state and I am leaving my two little bundles of joy behind me with their father.

I am really worried about leaving them behind though, I have never been away from my children for that long, and when I have it has only been to go to the pub or shops, or to go into hospital. So I am going to be thousands of miles away from them and just wanted to know if anyone has ever gone through this and how they got past the seperation anxiety...

I know it may sound silly to some of you, but I hate leaving my children behind and we are always together 99% of the time. I love them dearly, but as I have never left the state decided to go on my own the first time just to be safe really and so next time I go I will know my way around a bit better.

So can anyone tell me how to deal with the seperation anxiety so that I can still have a great time while I am away?
    Or is that just impossible????

    Thankyou kindly

They're gonna have to leave the nest one day, it might as well be now.

    Torana,
Will you be setting up a time each day to speak with them on the phone? That helps, letting both you and them have a chance to reconnect and share how the day went.

When they lived near me, my girlfriend sent her daughters down to be with their father (aka the Beast) for two weeks each summer. I won't tell you it's not hard, and that you won't miss them terribly, and vice versa, but that time apart will ultimate bring you all closer together.

I'm sure the Beast is a far worse person to entrust his children to than your ex would be to yours, so I am confident that both you and they will get through the week's separation just fine.

And plan something special for when you get back.

Thankyou kindly Cogito, their father is a bit of a...lets just say not the nicest of people, but my son loves him to pieces so he will enjoy it, just the little one I worry about, she hates him.

Your advice helps and I thankyou very kindly.
