Well I think there was one other thread about smoking where I recommended it. Of course I would, it works and I wish I knew about it sooner. Read the reviews on Amazon if you're unconvinced.

First off – well done you, it’s always fantastic when people take such a huge step and there are few things harder in life (that I’ve come across anyway) than quitting smoking...

    Regarding this comment...

I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss good advice – the fact you’re not sure you can last longer than four days would indicate that you’re not entirely confident about quitting. Allen Carr doesn’t ‘tell’ you how to quit, he gives you the confidence you need to be able to say with conviction that you never want to smoke again. I actually quit myself exactly 3 months ago today largely due to the help I received from a member of this site and I know that had I not read this book I’d still be smoking 30-a-day and hating myself for it. If you can do it on your own then fantastic but if for any reason you don’t succeed this time I’d strongly recommend you to give the book a try – what have you got to lose??

HKB – Well done on the quitting! And please do not under any circumstances stop recommending Allen Carr!!! So many of my friends have quit too after reading it, he’s saved so many lives I’d recommend it to any smoker.

No problem! It’s just something I feel strongly about as I honestly never believed I’d be able to quit but the book made it so easy I wish I’d read it years ago.

Good luck anyway, you’re doing great and it’s all worth it in the end!!

Well i'm two days in now, and so far so good.

I think i've probably only spend 10 minutes actually wanting a smoke in all that 48 hours which has suprised me.

Took the dogs for a walk yesterday (first time in a LONG time sadly). And joining the gym today. It's only 20 minutes walk away too, so i can walk too and back.

I have gone 2 days before (here and there), so can't rate myself highly, but today and tomorrow will be the huge test.

They say if you can make it 12 days of two full weeks, that all the stuff is out of your system or something. I am not sure, allergic to cig smoke, if I smoke a cigarette I can't telk the next day. (Yeah, I tried it, just to see what would happen.)

Well it might be out of your system

But smoking for 8 years takes longer mentally.

I'll give the goal 84 days/12 weeks before i'm happy.

It is always nice to get that extra time. My hubby took a vacation day for my birthday. I was sick, so it was really nice to have his help, and to spend the extra time together. :)

Woohoo, only a few hours away from a week clean of smoking.

Struggled today....I realse i cant handle long breaks of nothing followed by deep conversation. I'm having fights when the misses comes home and or long breaks in general (Saw watchemen today and i yelled at her after when talking - all good now, i said sorry etc).

Anyway, i'm feeling good. Taste isnt coming back yet, but i now have a real sense of smell, and can smell smoke a mile away ;)

1 week down, 11 to go!

    One week without smoking! :)

That's so great, Speedy! First of all, I admire your determination and ability to just say "that's it" --and have that really be it. I dont smoke, so I dont know how difficult it may or may not be, but it is an addiction, right? And addictions are hard to separate yourself from.

Congratulations on a full week without smoking! It's a great accomplishment and very admirable.

Edit: Well, where I am it's been seven days. ;)

When we got served he wouldn't push the food and drinks over (they were on his side, which meant id have to lean right over - which is not my job as a paying cistomer)

I sat there for 30 seconds and he called someone else over to serve and was looking at me. I told him to pas over the F-king stuf over f now or i wasent going to move.

He did. And thats the full story. The previous was when he was supposed to collect my tickets, but didn't

WOW! You had an interesting time. It's funny when you get people rattled that much.
